Well, I ordered 15 last week – just in case. I have to be prepared for those tough moments when everything seems to be falling apart or breaking down.

There is a way of repairing a failed vacuum motor but it is42v. not a

Today I came upon a case where a client of ours had booked carpet cleaning. After we had removed the dirt from the carpet some old pet urine stains became visible after drying up.

Our client was not happy and demanded we changed her carpet as we had caused those stains.

I sent the carpet cleaner back to have a look at the stains the lady claimed we have caused with our “hot water extraction method”. She had used a “cold water extraction method” (?!?) before and there were no problems.

The inspection confirmed that the stains were caused by the lady’s 2 cats. When wetted the stain smelled of urine. Our carpet cleaning technician could not ask the lady to smell the urine as he thought it would be unappropriate. We tried to explain this over the phone.

The lady could not believe it was urine as she “had spent a lot of money training her cats” to relieve themselves elswere. Urine is an acid and damages carpet fibres almost instantly. Take your time and you have a permanent discolouration.

We have written to the lady and suggested an independent carpet cleaning expert to examine the yellow stain.

Remember – call the carpet cleaners as soon as you notice the problem. Do not treat with Varnish, 1001 etc as they will make things worse. Just blot the spillage with a paper towel (do not rub) and try to remove as much of the substance as you can. Sometimes you can be lucky and the spot can come off 100%. If not – visit the carpet cleaners and we will help.
